Mexico

Mexico City - Carrizal - Mexico City
12-25 Feb. 2011

My last trip to Mexico was back in 99, so needless to say, I was pretty excited about going again.

The view from Hotel Isabel. Great place, great food, great service, great price, and great location in Centro Histórico.

Hotel Isabel, Mexico City

The Nacional Monte de Piedad is the national pawn shop, founded back in 1775. and one of the largest in the world.

The Metropolitan Cathedral  in the north end of the Zócalo, built between 1573 and 1813.

I love this place.

The Palacio Nacional.Located on the east side of the Zocalo, this is home to the office of the President of Mexico, as well as some of the amazing murals Diego Rivera painted.
Passing history from one generation to another

The Cathedral Metropolitana in the background, seen from the ruins of Templo Mayor.
According to the legend, this is the spot where the Aztecs saw the eagle on a cactus with a snake in its mouth, The symbol on the Mexican Flag today!
